Ultramax: a useful first comparison for mid-size SEA dry bulk
CharterPulse uses an approximately 63,000 DWT Ultramax as a planning class. It is not a promise that an Ultramax is optimal or available for a specific stem. The value is in quickly comparing the voyage economics against Supramax, Panamax and Handysize assumptions.
Why compare Ultramax and Supramax?
For many mid-sized dry-bulk requirements, both classes may be commercially relevant. The higher carrying capacity of an Ultramax can improve unit economics, but actual suitability still depends on parcel size, port restrictions, draft, gear requirements and vessel position.
