Two different questions
A voyage model is not an owner idea.
CharterPulse deliberately separates indicative planning from live market work. That makes the estimator more useful: users can explore economics quickly without pretending that a calculated number is executable freight.
| Indicative model | Live market check | |
|---|---|---|
| Purpose | Plan and compare scenarios | Test current commercial appetite |
| Inputs | User assumptions + model parameters | Actual stem + current market context |
| Vessel availability | Not claimed | Checked where requested |
| Owner idea | Not claimed | Can be requested |
| Negotiation | No | Broker-led where applicable |
| Output | Planning range | Current market information or commercial follow-up |
Why the distinction matters
The same voyage can price differently when tonnage position, laycan fit, vessel appetite, cargo details, terminal restrictions, bunker markets or competing demand change. A model is most useful for understanding the cost structure before those market-specific variables are known.
CharterPulse market actions
Owner ideas
Use when you want a current commercial indication rather than another modeled scenario.
Vessel availability
Use when suitable tonnage and laycan fit matter to the decision.
Talk to a broker
Use when the stem needs human commercial handling or negotiation.
Rule of thumb: use the estimator to understand the voyage; use a market check to understand the market.
